Floodgate makes importing data sets simple. Follow these three steps to import data.
Navigate to File Manager > Import in the sidebar.
1. Upload: Drag and drop your file into the box on the page or press the + symbol to choose the file for upload. When the upload is complete click the tick symbol to move onto the next step.
2. Templates: Map your data in the pop up box. This is where you tell Floodgate what you want to import from the uploaded sheet. Start with giving your template a name. Each time you make a template, Floodgate saves it and automatically recognises the data sheet next time you upload a sheet in the same format.
Match each line to the corresponding subject and format. If you don't need a line, choose Ignore from the dropdown box and this line will not be imported.
Once you are happy with the template, press the tick button and you will be taken to the final step.
TIP: Use the drop down box in the Format column to make sure dates are being read correctly. Example, if your spreadsheet is set to American dates choose mm/dd/yy
3. Logs: A pop up box will appear with an overview of the data about to be imported. Check the total amount matches the total in your spreadsheet. From here have three options;
Download - this will download the sheet you have just uploaded
Discard - delete the data set and template
Add to Queue - this puts your import into the logs to be processed
If you are happy with the overview, press Add to Queue and your data will start importing. When the pop up box closes you will see the status of your data set in the logs.
TIP: This page auto refreshes. When your import is complete a "Imported" badge will appear in the logs. Click on the Info icon on the right to review the data in donor manager or download the original spreadsheet.
